Under normal circumstances you have to be a band of notably fame to have an announcement of canceled tour dates make major news across the country. Unless of course you happen to be an actor turned musician. After hearing about Thornton's band in the news over and over I got curious. Whats the name of his band? I don't know that I had actually heard it. Answer, the Boxmasters. Naturally, my second question was, do they have a shirt? Answer, yes (see left). The shirt promotes their album "Modbilly".
We may not love to listen to celebrity bands but we do like the novelty of them. Why is that exactly? Is it related to the same urge we have to look at a car crash? Are we just waiting for them to wipe out and have a laugh; sense its really inappropiate to laugh at car crashs. But how can we not have a chuckle at statements like Thornton's during a Canadian reporter and his comment saying Canadian fans were like "mashed potatoes but no gravy." Come on now, that's funny shit. Then, after getting booed off stage two of the three catch "the flu" and have to cancel tour dates? It seems a little to convenient for me, I suspect Canadian terrorists.
